My parents have a dehydrator. What is so cool about one of those is the amount of food that fits in it. When I was a child, I used to hate it though. My dad would buy bushels and bushels of apples, tomatoes, and pears. I would have to spend hours peeling and cutting and laying them out on the trays. The best fruit to dry in one of those is watermelon. Mmmm, good, tastes like candy but perfectly fat free and totally healthy. The fall time is the best time to invest in one of these. Get all the fruits and veggies while they are still cheap enough. Then when the winter kicks in you have all your veggies and dried fruit in the cupboard. When you are munching on some yummy, sweet healthy snacks it is well worth the work put in. (my parents have their own pear tree in the back now, and i go over on purpose to work so i can have some free food!)

Here is another Real Age tip for you today
Gather as a family and dish up conversation along with food. Making family meals a daily habit that children look forward to helps them develop healthier attitudes about food and resist destructive weight-loss behaviors.

Keep mealtimes interesting by starting with a joke or ending with a riddle or brainteaser to solve by the next meal. At dinner, have everyone share a story of something that went well or not so well that day. This routine helps build stronger family relationships and foster healthy child development.

RealAge Projection: As an adult, eating a diverse diet that is low in calories and high in nutrients can make your RealAge as much as 4 years younger.

Thanks wicheesy for the info, I just stop by One Stop Jerky Shop and picked up an electric meat grinder, sausage stuffer and snack stick casings. I hope to make some venison jerky and snack sticks this year at home rather than taking ti down and having it made. The equipment looks great and hope to put it to the test in the month or so.
